Why I Don’t Have ONE Daily Mindset Practice & What I Do Instead

Do you have one mindset practice that you do every single morning? Well, I don't. Today I'm going to tell you how I can both keep a healthy mindset in my business and be fully present in my life without necessarily having one routine thing I do every day.I try to be intentional about tuning into what I need for that day and in that season. I try to notice when I'm feeling off; some examples of me feeling ‘off’ would be when I’m feeling a lot of stress, anxiety, frustration, discouragement, or lack of motivation.

I need to notice when I'm beginning to feel like I'm striving instead of coming from this place of confidence and contentment and peace - when I am not feeling like me. When I find myself in that place, I ask myself, "What is it that I need right now?"

Here are some examples of the practical things I do for myself in those moments.

Listing My Gratitude

One thing I do is I write down things for which I am grateful. I'm a type-A person, so I'm often thinking, what's next? It's a lot less natural for me to think: what have I already accomplished? How can I let my next thing come from that energy of being grateful, celebrating what I've already accomplished?

When I have listed out my gratitudes, I find I am a lot more patient and at ease and feel capable of making better decisions moving forward.

Going on a Walk

Getting light mid-day exercise literally changes my body and brain chemistry  to make me feel better.

Green Tea

It's one of my favorite things to do. I tell myself, "Okay, for the whole duration of my drinking this green tea (or this glass of water), I'm just going to turn off my brain and just rest and focus."

Music

I'll pick one single song, close my eyes so I don’t watch the clock, and just do some deep breathing for that one song. If I don't have very much time, I'll pick a song that I know is 3 minutes or so; it doesn’t have to be long, just enough to reboot.

Talk it Out

If I'm feeling like I need to be present with someone or talk something out, I'll ask myself - do I need to talk with a mentor? A friend? By assessing your needs and intentionally thinking through what kind of friend you need in that moment, you are giving yourself a good head start toward moving out of that slump.

Downward Dog

Especially if I'm feeling stressed, something I'll do in the moment is a few yoga poses. I'll do downward dog - for some reason that stretch and stretching in general really helps me refocus.

The Open Window

Sometimes, I just need some fresh air; I need some natural light to reset me.Those are some of the things in my life I use just to get back into a good head space.

When we're in a bad head space, what we tend to do in our business is work for approval instead of from approval.

Of course, it's easier to feel good about ourselves when we're making sales and our business is profitable. But there is that wonderful reminder that my success in my business and my worth are not tied together. I am a worthy, lovable, and great human being aside from my business results. I believe that really living from that place actually makes us more successful and profitable! When we are coming from "I need to make the sale so that I feel good about myself!" That's icky! That's where we need to do some mindset realignment. Do you have a daily mindset practice that you do every single day?
